CAP60 is teaming up with Assurance Wireless to inform low-income families about the federal Lifeline Assistance program.

In a society that revolves around technology it is important for people to have a way to stay connected. Unfortunately not everyone is able to afford the cost of cell phones and calling plans. CAP60 is teaming up with Assurance Wireless to introduce low-income consumers to free Lifeline cell phone service through Community Action Agencies across the nation. Just having access to a phone can open up a world of possibilities. The phones can be used when applying for jobs, calling emergency services, even just staying in touch with friends and family.

The goal of the federal Lifeline Assistance program is to make sure that qualifying households have access to the phone services they need regardless of their income level. The Assurance Wireless Lifeline program provides qualifying households with a free phone plus free talk and text with the option to purchase additional services.

The Assurance Wireless Life line program is extremely beneficial not only to qualifying households but also to the associated agencies. These associated agencies will be able to earn a stipend for each application that is approved, to be used to support their mission.

“Cap60 is proud to team up with Assurance Wireless and Community Action Agencies nationwide to inform low-income families about the federal Lifeline Assistance program,” said Hamid Kohan, President of CAP60. “The Assurance Wireless Lifeline program can help address some of the communication challenges low-income families face by providing free service to those who might not normally be able to afford a cell phone.”

“We are proud to help more and more customers stay connected to potential employers, medical and childcare providers,” said Grace Boehm, Director of Assurance Wireless.  “We look forward to reaching eligible households that turn to their local Community Action Agencies to stay informed about the resources that are available to them.”

Assurance Wireless from Virgin Mobile USA, one of Sprint’s no-contract brands, is supported by the Lifeline Assistance program, part of the Low Income Program of the federal Universal Service Fund (USF), which is administered by the Universal Service Administrative Company (USAC). Assurance Wireless provides service on the Nationwide Sprint Network, which reaches more than 281 million people.
